Description
|
Photograph of farmhouse owned by Benjamin and Sarah Frost Messer, 324 Boston Post Road, Amherst, NH. Robert Frost spent a summer and autumn here as a boy in 1885 with his aunt, Sarah Frost Messer.
Carolyn Mitchell wrote the following note with her donation: "A few notes on the enclosed photos: --The five photos have notes referring to 'Fred.' I think Jean Crocker said these were from the Rogers, who owned 'Inglenook' from 1933-1941. --There was a major renovation done in 1947 adding the modern conveniences and a major kitchen fix-up. Judy Klein had it modernized again in 1984 before we bought it. --The color photo with the wellsweep was made while Esther Crocker owned the house. --Chuck Bacon gave us his title search, which goes back to 28 March 1754 (Sarah Converse, Woburn, MA, to Timothy Smith of Reading, MA). Jean [Crocker] will be of more help than I if you have questions. C.V.M."
The Multiple Listing Service sheet from 1985 indicates "chimney totally rebricked from basement to roof, new liners put in, ... ceiling taken out of family room--loft area, ... area opened from back hall to living room, giving accessibility to bath and kitchen."
Writing on back: "None." |
