Photograph looking north of former barn (burned in 1940s?) on Mack Hill Road. 86 Mack Hill Road, Amherst, NH.
This may be the barn in which John Pesterfield operated a still to make Peach Brandy during the Prohibition. (p. 96, "A Sleeping Town Awakens")
Writing on back: "Barn at Griffin's. Mack Hill. Burned early 1940s." "Secomb's" "On corner of Upper Flanders and Mack Hill Rd. When it burned it belonged to Pesterfield. Road looking toward Nobles." |
