Description 
Col. Robert Means House. 1 Pierce Lane, Amherst, NH. Inscription on reverse reads: "Mansion of Robert Means, Sr. Built in 1785. Amherst, NH. Occupied and owned by Anne Kent Carruth in 1885." Note: The store, which burned in 1863, is not in the picture and maple tree stands in its place. The age of the tree may provide a clue as to the date of the photograph.
