Topic:  "Connie Converse at 100: An Amherst Solute"

Speaker:  Howard Fishman and J. Thomas Converse

Location: Wigwam Museum

In the years since her disappearance in 1974, New Hampshire native Connie Converse (1924-?) has come to be recognized as a major artist and thinker –– a pioneering songwriter, writer, and activist, whose contributions during her known life were largely ignored. The Converse family has deep roots in Amherst, where members of her family have lived since the 18th century (Converse's father, Ernest, grew up here, and she herself was a frequent visitor during her childhood).
Join us for a very special event on the occasion of Connie Converse's 100th birthday! On hand for the event will be archivist and unofficial Converse family historian J. Thomas Converse, and Converse's biographer Howard Fishman, author of
To Anyone Who Ever Asks: The Life, Music, and Mystery of Connie Converse (shortlisted for the Plutarch Award for Best Biography of 2023).
