Friday, August 2, 2024 5:00 pm Topic: "Connie Converse at 100: An Amherst Solute" Speaker: Howard Fishman and J. Thomas Converse Location: Wigwam Museum
In the years since her disappearance in 1974, New
Hampshire native Connie Converse (1924-?) has come
to be recognized as a major artist and thinker –– a
pioneering songwriter, writer, and activist, whose
contributions during her known life were largely
ignored. The Converse family has deep roots in
Amherst, where members of her family have lived
since the 18th century (Converse's father, Ernest,
grew up here, and she herself was a frequent visitor
during her childhood). Monday, October 14, 2024 6:30 pm Topic: "Spooky Tales by Candlelight" Speaker: Susanna Hargreaves Location: Wigwam Museum Join us for an enchanting evening of spooky tales by candlelight at the Wigwam Museum! Our local educator, Susanna Hargreaves, returns to share the ghostly lore of Amherst. Learn more from her book The Ghostly Tales of Amherst, New Hampshire.
Future programs to be determined.
